Kitchen Cleaning Robot, Readybot is a Major Domo

readybot_in_action

The newest development of Readybot Challenge is a robot that is capable of cleaning your kitchen. This robot has two human-sized arms. It can do many routines such as dumping leftovers in the trash can and loading dishwashers.

The developers of the robot said that the robot can perform up to 40% of daily household chores. The robot can do twice as many tasks. This is very good in cleaning your kitchen.

Readybot has antenna-like cameras, enamel box with wheels and two human-sized arms. You may see robot intact but, this can extend up to human height if this will be activated so can reach kitchen closets and surfaces. This robot has a number of custom tools that can be used for cleaning purposes. This robot cannot harm to anyone because this moves slowly.

There are still many improvements that needed to be done with this kitchen cleaning robot before this can fully help us in our household chores. But, there is no doubt that this robot is of a great help in the near future.

It’s a good start, I hope it leads to something. Of course, loading a dishwasher is not that hard, checking afterwards to see if the dishes are actually CLEAN when they come out, that’s a big deal. My 14-year-old can’t seem to master that task.
Also, the programmers need to think green. We don’t dump leftovers into the trash anymore. They go to the compost pile. Even my grandmother dumped most of the leftovers outside for the birds and squirrels.

This is certainly an exciting technology and will follow this closely as it further develops. The idea of having a Judy (jetsons robot?) would certainly make life easier. Nobody in my house enjoys doing dishes at all. There are going to be some alarmists that think scenarios like BattleStar Galactica, iRobot, etc will happen. Those people will always hinder, and I’m sure eventually big brother will want to regulate these too. Hopefully we can get to a spot where this could be affordable in every American home.

Now this is what I call progress! I see this robotic technology becoming common in the next decade. It will be interesting to see how careful and accurate such a robot would be — especially when dealing with breakable things like dishes and glasses. I’m guessing the robot will have to be “trained” (programmed) to learn the dimensions and layout of the workplace. I’m looking forward to watching this kind of technology develop.
