Motor/Robot Controller?

Kenji K asked:

I am currently looking for a programmable or PC linkable motor controller. Does anyone know where to get one or how to make one? It needs to control at least 55 motors/servos. This may sound ridiculous, but as my physical design gets improved, the count will go down. I will be happy with directions on how to make one that runs from a processor like an ARM. I have done lots of searching, but no-one shows how to use processors in electronics. I am currently looking for a programmable or PC linkable motor controller. Additional Info: It needs to understand C, C++ or C#.

Your idea is not really ridiculous but something interesting. I assume you know how to interface the processor to the motor control circuits and your motor controllers are ready. If not, you may need a guy who can design the controllers and drivers for you.

I think your design is not just to turn ON and OFF the motors but to control their speeds too. One technique to control speeds is by the use of PWM. Yes, you may need the C, C++. You can contact ARM and inquire from them about your project. They may have ready source code for a project like yours. Ask if they can provide the compilers, the debuggers, and the IDEs, and other development tools for you.

    Good luck.
