what should a pet robot have?

i want to build a pet robot and i am not sure if i should build a robot dog or a robotic turtle. also i would like the suggestionss of the yahoo community on what realistic features the robot should have not any fantasy like feature. i would also like to make it have the features like sony's aibo and the i-cybie had and have. i would also like to make the operating system linux based. the robot would be for security and entertainment reasons and educational. also does any one know were i can get servos and motors like the ones in robosapien and robopet? i can not find ones small like them. thanks

build a pet turtle… dogs have too much personality and dependency to even begin to mimic. if you can mimic any of these characteristics: turtles like heat and they eat alot of different things. they will eat a worm straight out of your garden. they eat veggies and fruits too =]
if you feed them meat often their shells get a ridge of knobs that later start to take on the shape of spikes. pretty cool if you want a pet that looks mean and cool… they hibernate (most kinds do) in the winter. they arent as slow as they are made up to be… my moms pet turtle ran away when she was little =} i dont know hoow much of this you would be able or willing to mimic but its a little simpler but much more boring than a complex dog would be. have fun =D
