Is it necessary that humans create artificial intelligence? If it is, explain?

caltam84 asked:

I mean artificial intelligence that is at human level intelligence or surpassing it. The creation of robotic humans that go beyond humans' intelligence. If it's necessary, then explain?

    I don’t think it’s necessary, no.

It’s sort of like climbing Mt. Everest. People try it just because they can.

There is call for artificial intelligence though. A.I. is already making it safer to drive, fly, perform certain surgical procedures. Un-manned crafts are making war safer, if there is such a thing as safe war.

The entertainment industry is making a killing on clever robots that chase and interact with children.

There are applications for artificial intelligence, but, in my opinion, it shouldn’t try to equal or surpass human intelligence.

Is it necessary? Hell no. What would be the application of it? We’re already slaves to technology, imagine if we had “electronic people” running things!

it is not basic necessity for us to survive. natural intelligence what we have is more than enough to tackle all sort of problem that exists.

Is human level AI necessary? No. Is it inevitable? I think so. It’s amazing how AI has advanced over the years. Visual recognition in limited domains like scanning zip codes and checks was once thought to be impossibly difficult. And now we have 3D object recognition. The Mars rovers have considerable autonomy. People will think of new applications for AI. And, computers have the ability to pour blood sweat and tears at a problem, and can search huge amounts of data quickly. So we’ll want those capabilities. And so the cutting edge gets pushed forward with time.

We’ve only had computers since about 1945. Life has had brains for half a billion years or more. There’s plenty of time for AI to evolve.
