How far are we as a human race in developing Artificial Intelligence?
asked:
And what is the most current example of our Artificial Intelligence technology?... Are we anywhere close to Irobot status?

my guess is that if we have any hope, it lies with quantum computing.

Yahoo news had an article about a robot that could scan your face and interpret various expressions and translate them into what you were supposedly feeling. It didn’t do much but mimick you, but I would consider that a type of intelligence. Thats what babies can do at about 4-5 months, respond to facial expressions.

hmm thats a hard question that many scientist seem to forget about this is simply the fact of the matter is one is trying to make a robot human but instead it turns out to be more like a mime of what a human is for instance, say the created a real robot human, if it saw you smile it would not know what to do but only mimic you.

Google C++ and AI. There are some source codes out there that do have AI characteristics, but in reality, they are using randomizers. If you load a robot with just about every human emotion, give them certain algorithms that will respond to certain stimuli, you have an AI simulator.
As far as true AI, I think it’s a pipe dream. Google self replicating robots though, it’s interesting.
